| Well, I am doing something that Evan tagged me to do. He made up this new game about weird habits so I am going to participate....if I can think of any weird habits that I have. I am pretty normal.
1. Like Evan with his PB M&M's...if I am eating those or skittles, I try to make sure I have the same number of each color. If I don't I eat some of the colors that have extra until I have all colors the same.
2. My brothers and sisters can tell you...I used to pick fuzz off of blankets, doll hair, etc. I can honestly say that I do not do that anymore, but it was still weird anyway.
3. I eat around the edge of a Reese cup and then eat the center. Now I know that everyone has their own way of eating a Reese cup, but that in itself is weird.
4. I can never sit still! I always have to be moving something. Even when Ryan and I are laying in bed trying to go to sleep, my foot will be moving back and forth until I finally fall asleep. It is so common that Ryan has actually accepted it and learned to sleep through it.
That is all that I can really think of. I tag Rachel!!!
| Somebody really needs to get on me. I have not added anything to this Xanga in forever. Since I have all weekend off I will try to get to it sometime this weekend. TRY!! | | |
| Man am I the worst at updating this thing or what. Anyway, the coolest thing happened tonight and I wanted to share it. Ryan and I went to Hollywood Video to get a couple movies. When I was in there I saw one of the girls from my class...she and her twin brother are both in my class. When I called her name she turned around and got this amazing expression on her face once she realized it was me. I had on my glasses (which they have never seen me in) so it took her a second to realize who I was. Once she did she ran over and threw her arms around me. I asked her where her brother was and she said he was in the video game section. I walked up behind him and said "shouldn't you be at home doing some homework"...he spun around and got that same great look on his face and hugged me. This is the first time I have seen any of my kids outside of school. It was the coolest feeling to see how excited they were to see me and how their face lit up. Man, I love this job!!!! | | |
| I know I know it has been forever since I updated this. Now you cannot say I didn't tell you that would be the case because I did. It has been C R A Z Y since I last posted. It is now week 2 of school and I am already spent. I have a class of talkers this year. It seems that no matter what I do they will not stop talking and pay attention. I am almost at my wits end. I really feel like I am doing everything that I should be doing but for some reason none of it is working. Today I was crying because I want this so bad and I am so scared that somebody is going to think I cannot do this job. I know what you are thinking...."they are not thinking that Leah....you are doing a great job...this is your first year and only the second week" and you are probably right. It is just really easy to get down on yourself and worry that it is something you are doing wrong. I am just going in every day with a fresh outlook and trying to forget what has happened before. We are trying to set up a time when I can go into my mentor's class and observe what she is doing and then she can come in and observe me. I think this will really help because a fresh pair of eyes can maybe see things I am not seeing. Just pray that I can get this all figured out!
I have to say though....regardless of all of the issues I have been having...this is the best job I have ever had and I LOVE IT!!!! I really feel like I was born to be a teacher. I have worked so hard for this and that is why I am sure it is all going to work out.
| I am still alive....YEAH!!!! Today was not nearly as bad as I thought it was going to be. I have 19 kids in my class and I have met all but 2 of them. I know that 1 is coming tomorrow and I am not sure about the last one. All the parents were really nice and most of the kids seemed excited to meet me and come back to school. I do have a couple kids that I think will be a little tricky but I am sure we will get through it just fine. I also realized what a small world it is too. There is a girl that I graduated high school with who's daughter is in my class this year. That was really strange when we both realized who each of us were. She was awesome though and signed up to be my room mother and help out with some other things. She used to be a teacher so it will be good to have her helping me with class activities. Well, I would write more but I am tired and would like to relax some before heading to bed. Until next time..... | | |
